Jane Marie Cox
This week has marked a rough week. I got a message last week from Allie concerning her mothers health. Jane has been battling cancer for two years now. She has put up the greatest fight, I've ever seen anyone give. We all knew her time was coming, we just didn't want to accept it to be so soon. Jane was put on hospice last week, and she entered eternal life September 5, 2012. Allie texted, "she's gone" around one o'clock that day. I was definitely at a loss of words. I was gravely upset of her passing, but I think I was more heartbroken for my best friend. I've been with her through this from the beginning and I know how this cancer has affected her. And It sincerely saddened me to think about Allie and her sisters going through all this. They don't deserve it and nor does Jane. I knew Jane enough through the years to know what kind of person she was. She was a great mother to those girls and staying at their house was always fun. From the memories I do have of her, they are great. Those memories will always be cherished. She was good-spirited, fun-loving, energetic, and one of those funny moms. I remember sitting in Allie's living room one time and Shayleen was trying to crack my back, but Jane kept saying silly things to make us laugh and it took us like a half an hour just to get her to crack my back. She was always fun to be around, she wasn't awkward like some parents are when their kids have friends over. Jane is going to be greatly missed.
Today, was Jane's funeral. It went very smoothly and very peacefully. It was the first time I've ever been to a funeral that has been in a church and a catholic one too. It was so heartbreaking watching Allie and her sisters walking down the Aisle. You could just see the pain on their faces, and it just broke me to pieces. We all started to tear up. Michelle, Payton and I followed along through the mass even though we weren't quite sure what to say or sing at anytime. They had a lot of good, and touching bible phrases. The thing that touched me the most was when Luke Thiel (Family-Friend of the Cox's) had a letter that Jane personally gave to him a while before her passing for him to read at her funeral. He told us to close our eyes and imagine Jane talking to us directly as he read her letter out loud. She wrote about growing up not having lot, but she was okay with that because I helped her appreciate the small things in life. She wrote that she regrets taking the things that she did have for granted and becoming the classic "robot" by getting up every morning, going to work, making supper and then going back to bed to start the same routine over again. She said she wish she would have changed things up a little more to spend life doing the things she could of done differently. And she made very clear how much she loved each and every one of her girls soooo sooo much. By the end of this letter I was sobbing. (I'm sobbing now, re-writing this).
The funeral was every bit of a peaceful farewell.
